My brother and I, with our families, run a 6000 head backgrounding winter lot in Central Alberta. We also have 700 mother cows. Rusty worked with us for one year through a calving season and a winter in the feedlot. She was in charge of calving cows, pen checking and processing weaned calves in the fall. If Rusty wasn't at the processing chute, she was on a horse. I saw her start colts and her main horse was a six year old that she had trained.

We have been involved with steer wrestling, calf roping and cutting horses. The secret to a good horse is a good start. Rusty puts colts to work with cattle in whatever country they're in. In our case it was snow, mud and semi-rough summer range. She takes her horses slow, but they have also got a job to do. Rusty is a good hand that puts a foundation on a horse they will never forget.
